I think just about everyone has heard about wikileaks now, the press attention must of been fantastic for their traffic. However the business owners out there should be thinking what if that was me, what if that was my IP published on a site like that? It would be devastating is the answer. I don’t normally recommend products but with spyware and hacks rife from out of date software every business should start looking at investing at tools to automate their software updates.
Windows updates are fairly well covered but as for other 3rd party app’s it’s all a mish mash. The only company I’ve found to date that have a tool that works and an automatic update tool in beta is Secunia. I suggest getting the free home version for your home pc’s if you access your corporate network here. It’s imperative that companies take IT security seriously in the days when all your IP can get around the globe in seconds.
